Which Massage Is Right for You? A Practical Guide in BTM Layout

Choose a massage by the experience you want: flowing strokes, focused pressure or assisted movement. Swedish massage is a useful starting point if you prefer a flowing session; deep tissue is worth discussing if you want slower, firmer work; Thai massage suits people interested in assisted movement and compression. Your comfort, product preferences and available time should guide the final choice.

At Bellona Day Spa in Old Madiwala, BTM 1st Stage, you can compare these formats before booking. This guide brings the main decisions together so you can explain what you want, ask useful questions and choose an appointment without relying on a treatment name alone.

Start with what you want to experience

Before reading the massage and spa treatment menu, answer three questions: Do you want to stay still or include movement? What pressure feels comfortable? Would you prefer oils, fragrance or a format without those additions?

  • “I want a calm, flowing session.” Start by comparing Swedish and Balinese massage. Explain whether you prefer light or moderate pressure.
  • “I prefer slower work on selected areas.” Ask about deep tissue or a focused back appointment. Describe your preferences without assuming that stronger pressure will produce a better result.
  • “I enjoy stretching and movement.” Ask about Thai massage, what movements are included and how the format can accommodate your comfort.
  • “I like the idea of an oil massage.” Compare aromatherapy and the Ayurvedic options, then ask about the actual products and fragrance.

For example, “I would like flowing strokes, light pressure on my shoulders and no strong fragrance” gives the team more useful information than “Book your best massage.” If you are unsure, say which sensations you want to avoid as well as what you would enjoy.

Compare the massage styles at Bellona

The descriptions below reflect Bellona’s published service formats. They are a starting point for a conversation; the therapist, sequence, products and available options should be confirmed for your appointment.

Which format matches your preferences?
StyleExperience to discussQuestion before booking
Swedish massageFlowing strokes with adjustable pressure. Can we start gently and adjust the pressure?
Deep tissue massageSlower, focused work for guests who prefer firmer pressure.Which areas will receive focused work, and which should be avoided?
Thai massageAssisted movement and compression. What should I wear, and can I decline a movement?
Balinese massageA combination of flowing strokes and focused pressure. How does your sequence differ from Swedish massage?
Aromatherapy massageAn oil-based session with a fragrance you are comfortable with.Which oils are used, and is a fragrance-free option available?
Kerala Ayurvedic massageA traditional oil-based format with a steady rhythm.Which oil, temperature and treatment sequence are planned?
Sports massageA focused session discussed around your activity and pressure preferences. How will the appointment reflect my activity and comfort?
Back massageA shorter appointment focused on preferred upper-body areas.Which areas fit within the appointment?

If two styles appeal to you, read the focused guides to Swedish versus deep tissue massage and Thai versus oil massage. If products matter most, use the oil and fragrance questions before selecting a service.

Full body, couple and four hand: format is a separate decision

Full body massage describes the scope of an appointment; you still need to agree the style, pressure and areas included. “Full body” does not remove your choice to exclude an area.

A couple massage is an arrangement for two guests, each with their own preferences. A four hand massage involves two therapists coordinating a session for one guest. These are different bookings: check simultaneous availability and read the couple booking guide or four hand guide for the relevant details.

Choose pressure you can comfortably communicate about

Terms such as “light,” “medium” and “firm” are subjective. Start with your preference, then ask for changes when needed. You do not have to accept uncomfortable pressure because you booked a particular style.

A clear request might be: “Medium pressure on my back, lighter on my arms, and please avoid my left shoulder.” During the session, short instructions such as “less pressure here” or “please stop that movement” help make the adjustment specific.

Ask about draping, clothing and the areas included before treatment begins. Agree how you will request a pause. Comfort includes the room temperature, products and personal boundaries, as well as pressure.

If you are visiting a spa for the first time, the first-visit checklist brings these practical questions together.

Compare appointment time and the final price together

Bellona’s published menu lists 60- and 90-minute options for several massage styles, and a 30-minute back massage. Confirm the duration of the exact service you choose, including whether the quoted time covers hands-on treatment or the whole visit.

A 60-minute flowing massage and a 90-minute combination package differ in more than length. Consultation, changing, products and any scrub component can affect the experience. The 60- or 90-minute appointment guide helps you compare like for like.

Published menu examples to help you budget

Website menu references checked on 6 October 2026
Massage60 minutes90 minutes
Swedish₹1,800₹2,500
Deep tissue₹2,200₹3,000
Thai₹2,000₹2,800

These are published menu references, not a confirmed booking quote. Prices may change; the service pages ask guests to confirm taxes, offer eligibility and what the duration includes. For example, the listed difference between 60 and 90 minutes is ₹700 for Swedish and ₹800 for deep tissue or Thai; decide whether the extra time fits your plans before paying more.

Before paying, request a written total for the selected style and duration. Ask whether taxes and agreed additions are included, whether any advance is required, and what the cancellation or rescheduling terms are. Use the spa price comparison guide to keep those details clear.

When is a massage package worth considering?

A package may suit you if you want all its components and have time for the complete sequence. If your main preference is a massage, check how much of the appointment is assigned to massage before adding a body scrub. Ask about the scrub product and areas to avoid, too.

For a shared visit, Bellona’s couple package combines aromatherapy and body scrubbing. Ask how the components are divided within the appointment. A longer or more expensive appointment is not automatically a closer match to your preferences.

Check suitability if health or product concerns affect your choice

This is a wellness booking guide, not a medical assessment. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition or recent injury, take blood-thinning medication, or are recovering from surgery, ask your clinician whether massage is suitable and whether any techniques or areas should be avoided.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health’s massage guidance notes that serious adverse effects have occasionally been reported, particularly with vigorous massage or in people at greater risk of injury. It also advises against using massage to delay medical care.

Tell the team about product sensitivities and ask what will contact your skin. Do not assume an oil is suitable because it is described as natural. A service name alone does not establish whether a particular appointment is appropriate for you.

Questions people ask when choosing a massage

Which massage should I choose for my first spa visit?

If you prefer flowing strokes and adjustable pressure, Swedish massage is a useful option to discuss. If you dislike oils, fragrance or assisted movement, explain that first. The right starting point depends on your preferences and suitability, rather than a universal “best” treatment.

Does deep tissue massage have to hurt?

You do not need to tolerate pain to complete a session. Tell the therapist if pressure is uncomfortable and ask for an adjustment or a pause. Seek medical advice for persistent or unexplained pain rather than choosing a stronger spa treatment to address it.

Can two people choose different massages?

Ask the team whether different styles can be arranged for the same time. Confirm each guest’s service, duration and price separately, along with the room arrangement. A couple booking does not mean both guests must have the same pressure preferences.

How much does a massage at Bellona cost?

The website lists Swedish massage at ₹1,800 for 60 minutes and ₹2,500 for 90 minutes, checked on 6 October 2026. Other services have different menu references. Ask the BTM team for the current final amount including taxes and additions, and confirm any offer’s eligibility before relying on a discounted price.

Can I walk in without booking?

Call before travelling to check availability. A listing of opening hours does not guarantee a therapist or room at your preferred time, and a WhatsApp enquiry becomes a booking only after the team confirms it.

Book your preferred massage at Bellona Day Spa

Send your preferred date, start time, number of guests and the styles you are considering. Add your pressure or product preferences, and ask the team to confirm availability, duration and the final payable amount.
